How I authenticate Celine bags, shoes and clothing

I review every Celine piece by hand, from photos you upload. The heat stamp, the date code and the construction have to match the model and era before I give a verdict. Here's what I check first.

  1. Step 1

    Interior heat stamp

    Celine bags carry a stamp reading "CELINE PARIS" and "MADE IN ITALY". Pieces from before the 2018 rebrand use the older "CÉLINE" spelling with the accent. I check the font, spacing and stamp depth, and whether the spelling fits the bag's era.

  2. Step 2

    Date code

    Many Celine bags have a code on a small leather tab inside, showing the production details. I check that the format and placement fit the model and the year. You can read yours first with the free Celine date code checker.

  3. Step 3

    Shape and leather

    Models like the Luggage, Belt bag and Triomphe have very specific proportions. I compare the shape, the leather grain and the edge paint with authentic references for that model and season.

  4. Step 4

    Hardware and stitching

    Zippers, clasps and the Triomphe hardware should be cleanly finished and evenly engraved. I check stitch spacing, thread colour and the finish where handles and straps attach to the bag.
