How I authenticate Gucci bags, belts, shoes and clothing
I check every Gucci piece by hand, from photos you upload. A serial number alone never decides the verdict: I look at the tag, the code, the GG details and the construction together, then explain exactly what I found. Here's what I check first.
Step 1
Interior tag and heat stamp
Most Gucci bags and small leather goods have a leather tab sewn into the lining, heat-stamped with "GUCCI", the ® symbol and "made in Italy". I check the font, spacing and stamping depth. The letters should be pressed in cleanly, never printed or blurry. A missing tag, a tag sewn in the wrong place or a fuzzy stamp is a major red flag.
Step 2
Serial number (style and supplier code)
On the back of that tab, Gucci stamps two rows of numbers: the style number on top and the supplier code below. I check that the format is right and that the style number belongs to the model in your photos. Fakes often copy a real code from another bag, so a code that "exists" is not enough. Step 3
GG canvas and logos
On GG Supreme and monogram canvas, the pattern should be even and symmetrical, with no awkward cuts at the seams. On belts, I check the GG buckle's shape, finish and back engravings. On shoes and clothing, I compare the logo prints, insole stamps and labels with authentic references for that season.
Step 4
Hardware, stitching and materials
Real Gucci hardware feels solid and is cleanly engraved. Zipper pulls, clasps, the Marmont GG and the Horsebit are classic weak spots on replicas. I also check stitch count and angle where the handles meet the bag, edge paint, and leather grain.
