Saint Laurent Serial Number Checker
Enter your Saint Laurent code
Type the code exactly as it appears on the tag, including the three letters and the dot. Results update automatically as you type.
Does the code fit the item?
Compare the decoded code with the item's visible details. A match supports consistency, but it does not authenticate the item.
What is a Saint Laurent serial number?
Current Saint Laurent bags carry a code debossed on a small leather tab inside the bag, usually above the words "Made in Italy". It has three parts: a three-letter prefix, a six-digit style number and, after a dot, a four-digit date code. In PMR657228.0422, 657228 is the style and 0422 is April 2022.
Bags made before the 2012 rebrand from Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris use a different layout: twelve digits split into two groups of six. That older format has no reliable public key for dating.
How to use this Saint Laurent serial number checker
Type the code exactly as it appears. The checker splits the prefix, style number and date, and reads the last four digits as month then year. It does not name a factory from the prefix, because Saint Laurent has never published one.
Then search the six-digit style number to confirm it belongs to the model you are looking at. If the code is missing, unreadable or inconsistent with the bag, a professional authentication is the safer next step. For other brands, start with the designer serial number checker hub.
What does a Saint Laurent code result mean?
A Recognized format means the code fits the current Saint Laurent layout and the date digits form a real month and year. An Unusual date means the date digits do not fit, which is usually a misread digit. Older Yves Saint Laurent format means a twelve-digit code from before the 2012 rebrand.
None of these results means authentic or fake. Because the style number is shared by every bag of the same model, the same code can appear on many genuine bags and on fakes copied from them.
How to read a Saint Laurent code
| Part | Example: PMR657228.0422 | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Prefix | PMR | Three letters linked to the workshop or production batch. Not publicly mapped. |

| Date code | 0422 | Month then year: 04 = April, 22 = 2022. |
Saint Laurent code formats by era
| Era | Typical format | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Before 2012 (Yves Saint Laurent) | 123456.123456 | Twelve digits in two groups of six. No reliable public key for the date. |
| 2012 onwards (Saint Laurent Paris) | ABC123456.0422 | Three letters, six-digit style number, dot, four-digit month-year date. |
A genuine code sits on a single line with even spacing. Several reference guides treat a code split over two lines as a warning sign.
Where to find the code on a Saint Laurent bag
Look for a small rectangular leather tab sewn into the lining, often inside a zip or slip pocket. The code is debossed on it, usually with "Made in Italy" below. The tab is usually the same colour as the lining, so it is easy to miss.
On some newer models the code is stamped straight onto the interior leather near a seam. Photograph it in raking light rather than pressing on the leather.

Yves Saint Laurent or Saint Laurent Paris?
In 2012, under Hedi Slimane, the ready-to-wear and bag lines were renamed Saint Laurent Paris, and interior stamps changed with it. The YSL monogram stayed on hardware, so a Cassandre logo on the outside does not tell you which era a bag is from. The interior stamp and the code format do.
The consistency check above compares the interior stamp with the code format. A current three-letter code inside a bag stamped Yves Saint Laurent, or an older twelve-digit code in a bag stamped Saint Laurent Paris, is worth investigating.
Why a Saint Laurent code can still be misleading
Fakes of popular models such as the Loulou, Kate, Niki and Cassandra often carry the correct style number, because it is easy to copy from a retailer listing. A correct number therefore proves very little on its own.
What separates genuine from fake is the shape and depth of the digits, the alignment of the tag, the heat stamp, hardware weight and engraving, and the stitching. Legitique reviews those signals together.
What to do after checking your Saint Laurent code
Search the six-digit style number and check that it belongs to the model, size and material in front of you. Then compare the decoded date with when that model was in production.
Before buying, selling or filing a dispute, get a professional Saint Laurent authentication with photos of the full bag, the code tab, heat stamp, hardware, stitching, corners and interior.
When to order a professional Saint Laurent authentication
Order an authentication when the price is high, the seller is unknown, the item has no receipt, the code does not fit the model, or you plan to use the result for a marketplace claim, chargeback, insurance file or resale listing.
See how it works and what the Certificate of Authenticity includes.
Do Saint Laurent wallets use the same code?
Small leather goods use the same layout, usually stamped inside a card slot or behind the coin pocket. The stamp is small and gets worn, so a faded code on a wallet is weaker evidence than on a full-size bag.

Saint Laurent serial number checker questions
Answers to the questions that come up most often when checking a Saint Laurent code.
How do I read a Saint Laurent serial number?
A current code has three letters, six digits, a dot and four digits. The six digits are the style number. The last four digits are month then year, so PMR657228.0422 was made in April 2022.
What do the three letters at the start mean?
They are linked to the workshop or production batch. Saint Laurent does not publish a key, so the letters cannot be translated into a named factory.
Is the Saint Laurent serial number unique to my bag?
No. The six-digit style number is shared by every bag of the same model, and many bags share the same date. That is why a matching code proves little on its own.
Where is the serial number on a Saint Laurent bag?
On a small leather tab sewn inside the bag, often in an interior pocket, with "Made in Italy" below. On some newer models it is stamped directly onto the interior leather.
My YSL bag has a twelve-digit number. What does it mean?
Twelve digits in two groups of six is the older Yves Saint Laurent format used before the 2012 rebrand. There is no reliable public key to date it from the number.
Should the code be on one line?
Yes. Genuine codes sit on a single line with even spacing. Reference guides treat a code split over two lines as a warning sign worth investigating.
Does a valid Saint Laurent code prove the bag is authentic?
No. Counterfeits often copy real codes from retailer listings. The shape and depth of the digits, the heat stamp, hardware and stitching matter much more.
What if my Saint Laurent bag has no code?
Check every pocket and seam first, as the tab is easy to miss. Some small accessories have no code. A missing code is a reason for a closer look, not proof of a fake.
